Bio

I have been involved in athletics all my life. I have always been very competitive and enjoyed playing sports. In high school I played football, baseball, and wrestling. My junior year I made the decision to compete in wrestling as I wanted to concentrate on it as it was my best sport. After graduating I moved to Edwardsville, IL to go to college at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Exercise and Wellness). While in college, I needed something to keep me active and fill my competitive needs so I started training in mixed martial arts. I did that for a couple of years until I graduated. After completing my Bachelor’s degree I moved back to Charleston to be close to my family and I began working a full time office job.

I quickly got out of shape since my activity level went down tremendously. One day at the gym I overheard people talking about CrossFit at the gym so I looked it up once I got home and saw a video of people doing the Olympic weightlifting movements (Snatch and Clean & Jerk). After watching those videos, I was immediately attracted to CrossFit because I used to compete for the Charleston Weightlifting Club when I was 10-15 years old. I actually won the Junior Olympics twice during that time so I thought I could be pretty successful with CrossFit after getting back into training and learning the other CrossFit movements. From that day on I have been doing CrossFit workouts on my own by following it online so I was very excited when I saw a box was opening up in Charleston. CrossFit is by far the best exercise program that I have found. I love the community aspect of it that allows you to workout with people of all ages and meet new friends through getting fit together. I can’t wait to start coaching others and help everyone reach their fitness goals and begin living a healthier lifestyle.
