Bio

I have always had an interest in human movement and played a variety of sports growing up. My love for sports and helping others lead me to a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Eastern Illinois University. During my time at EIU I worked with a variety of sports assisting a Certified Athletic Trainer in providing first aid and emergency medical care to NCAA Division 1 level athletes as well as a student internship with the Indianapolis Colts during the 06’-07’ season. After EIU, I obtained a graduate assistant position with Northern Illinois University working as a Certified Athletic Trainer with Men’s Soccer and Football. While at NIU I received a Master’s of Science in Sport & Exercise Psychology and worked with organizations such as the United States Anti-Doping Agency, the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, and the Illinois Elementary School Association. Currently I work for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center as a Certified Athletic Trainer performing outreach at Mattoon High School providing care to a variety of youth sports.

I joined CrossFit 217 in 2013 at a friend’s suggestion because I needed a change from the monotonous rigger of basic weight lifting and running. I was going nowhere with my routine and struggled to stay consistent. CrossFit provided the structure and sense of community that I had been looking for and has been instrumental to my success and wellbeing. The knowledge I have gained about nutrition, mobility, lifting and body movements has served to improve my quality of life as well as the quality of care I can provide to my patients as an athletic trainer. It is my hope, as a coach, to be able to provide similar experiences to you, whatever your fitness level and help you on your journey to wellness.
